Menthya hittu is a healthy and tasty powder that is rich in lentils. Mix a teaspoon of this powder, a little ghee, and salt to a half cup of steaming cooked plain rice for a quick and healthy rice course.

Ingredients
Toor Dal : ½ cup
Chana Dal : ½ cup
Moong Dal : ½ cup
Whole Wheat : ½ cup
Fenugreek (Methi) : 1½ teaspoons
Cumin seeds (Jeera) : ½ teaspoon
Black pepper : 10 - 12
Red Chilies : 10
Asafoetida (Hing) : ¼ teaspoon
Turmeric (Haldi, Arshna) : ¼ teaspoon
Curry leaves : 15
Instructions
Dry roast everything except the hing and turmeric separately and set aside to cool.
Then add the hing and turmeric to the mixture. Using a coffee grinder grind to a fine powder.
Transfer to an airtight container such as a glass jar.
Notes
Menthya hittu will stay fresh for at least six months if stored in an airtight container at room temperature. It will stay fresh even longer if stored in the refrigerator.
